"stalled" Red Leopard

chibae

An orchid fancier with a CP problem
My N. red leopard seems to have hit a stall. Usually it produces basals by the dozen and this is it's third year of the main vine producing uppers.
Last year I removed all but two large basals.

It was freshly repoted about six months ago and has been enjoying a plentiful diet of yellow jackets for months.

So far this year it has produced no new basals and now has aborted it's growing point in the main vine. Any thoughts? The only other difference is that the two basals are producing much larger pitchers this year. Am I looking at the main vine quitting and one of the basals taking over?
