Neato! What's the leaf to pitcher ratio for the N. Hamata? It looks like the pitchers are bigger than the leaves!

SF

awesome pics Dustin and i also have to give credit to Tony for growing them.

Hi Snowyfalcon, um i dunno what the ratio is on that...Tony might be able to help out on that.

Eric, yup photo credit to me and plant credit to Tony.

I must say I am always very impressed every time I walk into his greenhouse.

That's a nice N. hamata! I wonder how tall is that? Mine is 60 cm/2 feet tall now but growing tipped over at about a 15-20 degree angle (now supported by bamboo stakes and tendrils grabbing things) having the stem tipped over has activated three of the nodes along them stem to starting new vines. I do notice that the stem on that big N. hamata is green while mine is black as pitch. It may just have something to do with light as the dorsal side of the midrib vein on my N. hamatas leaves are black too. I just love N. hamata!
biggrin.gif

Snowy, the lower leaves on N. hamata are larger than the climbing leaves by almost twice the size-many plants enlarge their upper leaves! Lower rosette leaves on mine are 18 cm with up to 20 cm pitchers the upper leaves are only 10-12 cm long but the upper pitchers are said to still get to 20 cm... we'll see. So far mine hasn't inflated the upper pitcher tendrils, I'm anxious to see those infamous hamata uppers!

Edit: Oops, I forgot to mention how nice those other plants look and how nice the photos are (thanks for being my wandering eyes Dustin-since I can't see Tonys place in person)! I really dig that N. Trusmadiensis - How big might that be? Is it the only one? I have Trusmadiensis x veitchii which is certainly showing zero by way of "hybrid vigor". In one year and it might have settled in by now. I'm wondering if maybe the potting media is foul, it doesn't stink and dries out easily enough but came potted so I never fussed with it...

Anyway, great pix!

I'd guess the Trumadiensis pitcher is around 8cm (3 inches tall) The plant is about 13-15cm (5-6in.) across. Didn't have a ruler so I'm just guessing form my memory earlier today.

Excellent photos, especially the hamata.
I have a nep doing the cannibalism thing(well not quite, it's the same plant). I noticed a tendril snuck in another pitcher of my giant red amp, and it's too snug to pull out, lol.

Joe

Man, I've been praying and praying for a cheaper highland truncata. I love it. Please, just a $50 highland truncata!!!!!!!!! Nice photos

Surprised no one asked if I treated myself to some Christmas treats! Well here's what I got. No pitchers are 'mine' yet but I couldn't resist taking some pics!

fly-catchers and JLAP,
If you get red X's try refreshing the page or right click the X  and select "Show picture".  I get the X's if I have a bad dial-up connection and try to load a bunch of pics all at once(like this page).  The pics suck up a lot of band width, but are worth the wait.

Those are some nice sized plants you got, I really dig that N. ovata! Is that a 10cm pitcher? It sure looks like it!

BCK and VFT guy, the pics were deleted from the PFT gallery deal before, but yes if they were uploaded refresh page would have brought them back up.

Josh, nope! lol It is still a beautiful sized pitcher though:

N. ovata-6cm pitchers
N. macrophylla-4cm tall pitchers.
N. fusca- 14cm tall pitchers.
H. heterdoxa- 8cm tall pitchers (adult ones)

Nice shots, Dustin! Finally got to see some of Tony's place (and Tony too). Very cool operation.
We've been growing an adult sized H. nutans under a glass dome since early May. It was a birthday gift from Michelle (my lovely better half). It seriously needs constant high humidity, but is not as temperature sensitive as I thought it would be.
