Nepenthes northiana

Tuna: I would recomend trying N. x mixta it`s cross with N.maxima first as this plant is less demanding inj conditions, and as I understand it also exhibits "hybrid vigor".

Just my 2 pence worth....

Dang! That is just the definition of cool. Now I have something to look forward to, oh, 5 years down the road.

Oh, my kingdom for a greenhouse!

Well, if Jeff will pull the camera back, you will see you don't need one He has essentially committed a small space of house to this plant , in the way that some of the exotic animal people would do with a chameleon or something. Not many people here would put together a chamber for one plant.
But then again, I think Jeff's whole body is green, not just his thumbs, lol.

Cheers,

Joe

I am happy to share what I've learned about this species. In
fact, I wrote an article about my experiences with this plant;
it appeared in the June 2003 issue of the Carnivorous
Plant Newsletter
, and a picture of one of the lower pitchers
appeared on the back cover.

Jeff,
You wouldn't happen to have a pic of the whole plant, do you?

Unfortunately, no. And, it would be pointless to do so.
Over the years, the plant has produced a very long vine
with lots of dead pitchers and leaves, so it's somewhat
unsightly. Moreover, the vine is coiled up inside an
environmental chamber with just a few green leaves
and a pitcher or two sticking out.

However, a basal has begun growing out, and at some point
in the future, I will cut the old vine and sell cuttings
(probably unrooted). So, for those who are interested
in this plant, keep this in mind....
