I'm not so sure, I've seen tobaica x lowii and it's a pretty unimpressive hybrid. Khasiana would be much the same. Khasiana as a parent seems to suppress the peristome of the species it is crossed with (so lowii's lowers would be dulled down), and lowii hybrid uppers are often fairly plain. Ventricosa x lowii works because of the complementary trait - the waisted middle.

I'd go for species with dominant colours, like thorelii and bellii, or larger species for some size. I wouldn't go for the fancier ones, like veitchii, because the main traits would be greatly reduced. But you never know, every now and then there'll be one seedling in a batch of thousands that shows some unique trait that makes it worthwhile.

Your right sydney. I had a hard time thinking of good khaiana hybrids. They can sometimes be plain like khasiana x truncata, or really nice like khasiana x sibuyanensis. Deffinately cross it with the more colorful species. Hmm, I actually think stenophylla would be pretty nice. It should have some decent spotting, considering the uppers of khaiana "CAN" be quite colorful. I wonder how mikei would turn out? Deffinately spectabilis. A dark hamata wouldn't be too bad, but don't expect a lot of teeth, or densiflora, diatas, dark bongso, ooh, or a good ramispina

. Maybe even maxima, fusca, albomarginata, or a really dark red form of ventricosa.

gracilis, can we see a photo of your male N. khasiana if you can? I'm very curious about this and would like to see mostly a close up of the sepals and pedicels on the spike and how it is arranged.
