Could it be??? Finally a flower stalk???

After soooooooo looooooooong I might finally have a Utric. graminifolia flower stalk! :banana2:

I've grown atleast 4 square feet of UG, I'm not kidding...Just mailed out another 6" X 4" section this morning...and never 1 stalk :censor:. This was my first Utric and I've had it for years. Grown it every way I could think of and how do I get my first stalk...

Well I took a cutting of the tiny fern in there to grow up and sell and I always wash off the cutting well to keep cross contamination of plants to a minimun. I'd say I messed that up. Well I was felling lazy and though it would just die off. I mean this pot gets close to dry every week. Well that one leaf turned to two, then three, you can see what happened.

Now what would really be funny if this was another random Utric...although I don't see how that would be possible! Or if what I've been growing as UG was actually something else! Even though I've checked the bladders under a good microscope.

With Utric's you never really know until you've checked both the flowers and bladders.

It looks like my UG's flowerstalks :)

congrats!! I love the feeling of a utric flowering for it's first time in my care. Still waiting on my U.calcyfida 'Yog Sethos' flowers to open up..

Definitely a flower scape. Looking forward to the next picture!

It took long enough, but here it is :-D. Its a pink/purple one, the picture does not do the color justice. I'll try and get a better photo later.

lol--my graminifolia is attempting to flower underwater right now....i wonder if it will be successful.

Is that parsley?

Its a minitature fern Davallia parvula, I am trying to propagate the fern in that pot not the UG. They take a little while to take root before they start growing well, atleast in my conditions.

I have sad news...the evil U. graminifolia has breached the defences of the peaceful Davallia parvula and overran it completely :-(.

Anyway this is what happens when you fertilize UG with the ferns...
