I have a few others that now 'seem' large enough to produce flowers - maybe I'll get lucky ..... :-O

Woooo look at the color on the U. nelumbifolia, even in the stem! Is that the Maui sun doing that?? Mine usually look more like Rons. Wonder if it's clonal, cultural, or both!

One to add that is a bit tough to appreciate at times..
From last Spring.

someday guys....someday i will be able to add to this wall....and then, i'll shall take over the world! :mwahaha:

Aloha Tony,
might be the high UV due to the subtropical latitude and the high elevation. Might also be a result of the cool nights it has gotten. my spring flowers were very similar in shade to yours and Ron's. Dunno if it is clonal. Might be able to test someday as this one seems to be constantly wanting to make new plants.

There are some of my plants that i can truly 'expect' to see a flower from at some point (large, healthy, robust, etc). There are some that I can 'hope' for a flower & I may or may not get one. However, the U. jamesoniana goes into the category that I hope I can just keep it alive & maybe someday figure out how to have it thrive.....

Tony . . . . :hail:

Soooo .... what other Orchidioides have you gotten to flower in the hinterlands of upstate NY?

Wow, some great photo's so far. Someday, maybe I'll see about U. jamesoniana, I need more experience I think.

Here are my two, photo's taken from other threads.

For anyone who has not seen this thread, be prepared to be awestruck. Today's recent addition of a bunch of U. asplundii flower pics is probably the best I've seen. This guy's skill (my potential apologies since I don't know that Avery is male) with photography and growing plants is amazing. For the full effect, click the bar on the top of the pic to see it full size.

The only downside is the host he uses for the pics, it is so slow that some (sometimes many) pics do not even show up. I seem to get more pics by going back & forth between the pages...

Absolutely stunning! I've never seen this species, and what unique flowers.

On a side note I don't understand the name of this thread...

Those silly scientist guys/gals decided there was enough variance in Utric's to break them down in sections, this thread is for the flowers of the section Orchidioides. A listing of the species in this section can be found here.

U. alpine assuming normal clone cant compare flowers with the large clone. need to get that one and see side by side :p i guess it lacks the ruffly/pleated look?

Mach,
Beautiful flowers!

Looking at the pics in the cultivar description, both versions seem to have the rumpled look. Your's w/ the flat skirt is even more attractive - congrats!

While I'm here, I guess I should add a few U. asplundii pics since there are none in the thread.

An old thread but with plenty of great pics. Today I snapped a 'spent' stalk of U. nephrophylla x reniformis. However, once I pulled it out, I saw there was still a flower (dang super-long stalks!). Ooooops.

Anyway - snapped a pic before tossing.

Edit: Looked in the tank yesterday & found that The stalk originated from a different hybrid pot - U. nephrophylla x reniformis --- oooops. Sorry (that's why there were so many differences with nephro x nelumbi flowers - aaarrrgh!)
