Rarity of Genlisea

  • #21
Similar question: if anyone is growing Genlisea species out there, what's your longest-lived plant?

I had the same G. violacea 'Giant' for over seven years and it was super easy to propagate. I eventually lost it to a tropical worm that invaded some pots in a terrarium where I kept it. The worm burst right through the center of the plant like a science fiction horror movie. Instead of tracking down another genlisea plant to replace it, I re-allocated my growing space to helis, cephs and neps.

I picked up a few more genlisea plants recently and they are doing great in warm, humid conditions via the tray method. I do not find them to be difficult at all. I have some in highland conditions as well.
