Genlisea hispidula

Hey Tim, my Genlisea is flowering!!!
The stalk is about 4.5cm tall now...

I'm happy. How do I pollinate it? How would I sow the seeds?

Thanks!!!
Greg

To pollinate, go to the art store and buy a cheap water colour brush then cut off all but 4-5 hairs and then trim those down to about 5mm long. Now, lick the brush and carefully slip it in between the lobes, twist and swipe back and up as you slowly pull the brush out. Repeat a couple times and then again for the next few days. Then wait to see it you are successful.

Alternativly, you can gently pull the bloom off and disect itto get at the pollen and then swipe it over the exposed stamen.

I've used a pin to do it as well. I find that G. hispidula will form seed pods without any intervention. I don't know if the seeds are viable or not.

Good job, Parasuco.

One other thing to add, Genlisea seed, like Utric seed, is generally very short lived so try to sow it as soon as possible.

So I can use a pin? I"ll try to butcher my paintbrush set too tho...

How many flowers per scape? Just one or multiple?

Cool. Thanks for the info, and thanks for trading with me.
