New to flytraps

Well I just picked up a VF today for $5 at a local craft fair...

It doesnt seem to eat flies... I had it outside today and flies were all over it but it never closed.

Also, Can I keep my VF inside under a flourescent lamp?
Right now its under a 27watt flour. bulb.

here are a few pics.

Well the traps seem capable of closing, so it can catch flies. It's not a guarantee that a trap will catch the fly once triggered - success is probably 50/50. Warmth and sun speed up trap closure speed.
You can keep your plant under a lamp, but it will prefer a sunny windowsill.

I tried flourescent lighting and they did very bad. I bought a 1000 watt grow light and they did a lot better. The one on my back porch in the sun are doing the best. These plants love lots of bright light. If the plant is in shock, the trapps will stop closing. You will have to wait for new growth to get working traps.
