40's is fine, you dont need to bring them indoors..
and it takes more than one or two nights for any plant to enter dormancy..
dormancy is a long, slow, drawn-out process.
it actually begins in July/August as photoperiod and temps slowly decrease through all of august-september-october.
it takes 3 months for a plant to "enter dormancy"..
one or two nights, even a week or two, of unusual cold will not confuse the plants..
your winters might be a bit warm for a good dormancy..
but you still have plenty of time of work it out.
