Is it just one trap or the entire plant? Traps only last a few closings and they the trap itself dies. Persoanly I like to trim my plants and keep them looking nice. I remove a trap if the edges are starting to die and just looks ugly. Heck I cut off nepenthes pitchers if the peristoma is starting to die back. Some people like to leave things on and let the plant grow naturaly. The plant sounds fine to me its just an old trap dieing off. Its your choice. Good luck.
