Short vs Long leaves

Right now, my clayton red sunset has short leaves with its traps being supported on the ground. Is it better to had these short leaves or the longer leaves which point up and support the trap upwards?

If the longer ones are better, can i just move the light further away?

Right now they are going dormant ,so they produce short leaves. In the spring when they come out of dormancy they produce long leaves.Hope that helps you.
