Temperate CP: Dormancy journal

Hey guys,

I am starting to put my vfts in dormancy. All of them except the pot with the flowering VFT is under mulch hoping that the plants will go to sleep and actually wake up.

THe plants are now left outside in my balcony under temps of 40F max to 28F as of now. It might go even lower as the winter progresses. Hopefully the bark mulch should keep them all insulated.

Here's hoping that all of them...especially my darling darlingtonia comes through the dormancy successfully.

cheers,

Varun

PS:: can a mod move this to the general discussions?

Nice looking plants!

thanks man! :)

Very nice VFTs! Any idea what those Sarracenia seedlings are? They look nice. I love the color of you Cobra.

Good luck Vraev, I hope they make it through for you.
The colors on all of them are amazing! What kind of lighting are you using?

Glad ya captured the 'before' look.

THanks guys. Lol Jim! I couldn't bear putting the cobra in the bin. The thing just looks soooo beautiful. It was hard...but I know the cobra will be doomed in an yr or 2 without dormancy. So I had to do it. The lighting used for the plants is 2 x full spectrum 6500K flouroscents.

I was amazed at my own cobra lily after last year's dormancy. Surprised the daylights out of me when it flowered and then sent a shoot about a foot away. I even got share pollen with NAN and he sent me seeds that have germinated. Dormancy is a good thing!
