Baby Dionaea

dionae

sarracenia lover
These are a couple weeks old. I think I have around 30 sprouts. I started them under a single bulb 2ft T5, 10000k and a 70w high pressure sodium. I've ept them under 24 hour lighting from the beginning. They are going to stay on 24 hours unless I notice a decline in health.

I was hoping for some colorful seedlings and it seems every single sprout is either orange, red or purplish in color. I wonder if its because of the intense light or the extended photoperiod? They're growing fast and dont seem to mind the 24 hour lighting.

Very nice!

Thanks!

Nice! I started some back in July and they are still tiny! Not for the inpatient as far as growth goes!

Yeah, they take forever but its fun seeing what type of different traps pop up.

Heres a lil update. I have 2 that are so dark red they look purple. Hopefully they'll be something special:).

Do you mind if I ask how long ago did you put that leaf pulling into the moss?

(Looks great, btw!)

Question for ya: how do you shoot these? Macro filters?

  • #12
Yes, I use macro lenses. They're on ebay for like $30:).

  • #13
Wait, macro lens or filter? o_O

  • #15
Those are filters, not lenses. ^.^

I was gonna say, I can't imagine you found a lens for $30.

Thanks, though. I might have to invest in some of those until the magical day when I have an extra $400 laying around for a lens. LOL.

They work okay. I would imagine you could find something a lot better though:).
