What do you do for their dormancy or are you of an elevation in Maui that allows for it?
 
The elevation allows for lower temps in the winter and being subtropical we do have short days. well sort of short days. However, in winter the mountain we are living on blocks the sun and the ones to the west of us block the sun in the evenings. So we sort of end up with shorter days that most people in Hawaii.
