Dormancy

Hi all,

I'm pretty new to the VFT hobby, so here's a few questions, please:

1. Living in South Africa, we're closing in on winter. My VFT, which I got about 2 weeks ago, has two or three traps turning black. It is also pretty unresponsive. (A small ant got into one of the traps, and it closed only partially). Is this dormancy, or should I worry?

2. What care does the plant need during dormancy? Water, direct/indirect sunlight etc?

Thanks for the abundance of info on your site.

'Till later.

It might be time to put your VFT into dormancy. That way you can get it into the cycle of the weather where you are.

It would be a good thing.

Read the link about it, and if you have any questions, please let me know.

Thanks for the help.
