Dionaea Muscipula

I have done much research on CP's, particularly VFT's.
But in all of my research, I have not come accross any site that explains the meaning of the term DIONAEA MUSCIPULA.
I know that it is Latin, but why was it named this, and what does it translate to in English?

I'm going to move this to the VFT forum and see if that helps it get more answers.

Alright, from what I remember "Dionaea" derives from Diana which make no sense to me because Diana is actually the Greek goddess of the hunt, Aphrodite was the goddess of love. (Or am I mixing up my Greek and Roman mythology?)

I think I remember reading that, oddly enough, "muscipula" translated to 'trapper of flies' or 'fly catching'

This is what I found out... Diona is the mother of Venus, Muscipula translates to mouse trap. Sort of a connection...

Go to the URL below and you find there a dictionary of CP names by Peter Cole
from it Dionaea = named after the Greek goddess Dione , mother of aphrodite
muscipula = mousetrap
