This was growing on my VFT

NickHubbell

It’s a trap!
Was cleaning out dead leaves when I came across this trap.

Can anyone identify what this is growing on the leaf? Could this be a lichen?

wow, I just was your pictue, to bad it's so blurry. It can't be a lichen because they grow way to slow, probubly something related to fungi or a nector abnormality

I had this on mine when I bought it I just cut the trap off and left it alone it hasent come back since

It looks a bit like a leaf miner, a small insect which lives as a larva between the layers of a leaf eating out the middle, then hatching and flying off.

Here's a tip for you.

Instead of dropping a grand on a camera w/ macro,

buy a Jewer's 10x loupe or get a cheap magnifying glass
and put it in front of the camera lens. You will get real close and the picture will be sharp.

The camera is fooled into thinking it is the actual size.

I'm a jeweler, and this works wonderful ! !
