Dead trap removal

Just curious if anyone can offer some help please...

One of my plants has a few dead or dying traps. When and how should I remove them?  Two have turned black almost to half the length of the stalk. Can / should I remove them or wait until it gets black all over?

(Plus, it's not very attractive seeing my pretty plant with theses dead portions on it)

Cut off the black parts, as this (if left ) can cause fungal infections.  Don't cut into the green part though.

Edit: Hey, that post wasn't there before! LOL!
