Insensative traps

The other day I tried to feed my VFT a spider. I noticed that when the spider walked over the older traps, they wouldn't respond to the spider.

However, as the spider crawled over a newly-grown trap, the plant responded immediately, and trapped the spider.

Is it natural for older traps to not respond to food?

FutureForces, traps wear out and get old after several catches. A good sign of a worn-out trap is if the lips of the trap are bent outwards. This is normal and happens to every trap. The newer traps aren't worn out just yet and trigger successfully.

Greetings,
FTG
