Vft health

i am a new vft owner. it seems like my plant has gone downhill since we got it in march. it is in an open top terrarium, sits in 1/2 inch distilled water, ate two bugs since march and gets about 12 hours of "plant lamp light" a day. however, it seems to keep getting black leaves and traps. i trim them off, but im worried. any suggestions?

Is there new growth in the center of the plant? As long as the new growth isn't turning black and dying, I wouldn't be concerned. It is natural for the plants old leaves to turn black and die.
