Ok, I got a spiraled energy saver bulb (which a similar brand says is a flourescent light), 850 lumens. Will this work? I basicly need to put my VFT under a lamp since windows are either inaccessable or not bright enough. Since its also in my room I cant get a large shop light with those long flourescent tubes. I am hoping what I got now will work. Pj

i think that's actually the exact bulb i'm using... uses 15 watts but puts out the light equivalent of 65 watts i believe?
i put it into a cheap (wal-mart) desk lamp and have it maybe 5 inches above my two small vft's and they're doing GREAT!! 15 hours of light per day, and they're all turning very nice shades of pink and purple.
