Wait a minute, a clay pot will leak minerals into the soil and kill your plant. Put it in a plastic pot.

Clay pots are not inherently bad. The thing to keep in mind with UNglazed clay pots. Water evaporates from the entire outer surface. This results in salt/mineral buildup within the clay. How fast depends on many factors. Such as rate of evaporation, water quality, saucer watered vs free draining top watering etc.

The point to remember is that eventually the salt levels in the clay may start affecting the soil quality.

Even though, I wouldnt take the risk though, in some cases it kills the plants off completely.
