Yellowing perlite

The perlite I have in both my big mouth fly trap and my D.Aliciae's pots are turning this weird yellowish-orange color. Is this normal?

It's absorbing color from something in the potting mix. What else is in the mix? Might the color be coming from sphagnum?

Uhh....not sure, maybe but I dont know.

I have the same problem on my Sarras. I tried a 50/50 peat perlite and now the perlite's getting a bit yellow. Could be algae?

it's absorbing the tannins from the peat.

think tea.

So I take it that meens theres nothing to worry about?

that's right. that's why i don't like perlite. without topdressing. plus it floats.
