Big leaves puny traps

Recently my vft has been sending up leaves with tiny trap things. Do they always come out that way at first? Or is there a problem? Also does it matter that they are coming out straight up?

Sounds exactly like your VFF needing much more light. Try moving outdoors to a shaded area for a week, then put it in some morning sun, then full sun. Large leaves usually means the plant is trying to capture more light, small traps means the plant can't make enough food to make larger ones, and skinny growth could mean the plant is trying to reach up to find a better source of light.

would that be worthwhile to do this year? Or is it already to close to dormancy time? In the US.

What kind of lighting is your VFT getting?

well recently its been overcast. They get one gro-lux bulb and one compact 26 watt florescent bulb. As well as aluminum foil all the way around the terrerium.
